Our Quality Criteria

Quality CriteriaWhat is a high-quality early childhood program? A high-quality program provides a safe and nurturing environment while promoting the physical, social, emotional, and intellectural development of young children. At Discover and Share, we have set up a set of quality criteria that we use as a basis for nearly everything we do.
  1. Safety and Nutrition - Your child's safety is our first priority. The facility design includes TV monitors available to parents and others with passwords over the Internet. In addition, we have safety glass walls for visibiltiy, as well as pinch proof doors. Medicine is controlled by the front desk, and all staff is CPR and First Aid certified. We provide nutritious breakfasts, lunches and snacks and encourage good eating habits.

  2. Quality Staff and Interaction - Every lead teacher has been degreed and certified in Early Childhood Education. We pride ourselves in having lower Child-Teacher ratios than those required by the state of Texas, making sure that there are always enough adults to respond to each individual child. Children and teachers interact with personal respect, affirmation and affection. We want your child to feel safe, nurtured and to know that he or she is a valued and unique person.

  3. Quality Curriculum - Each level of curriculum includes the following objectives: language and listening Skills, fine and gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination, visual discrimination, tactile stimulation, fostering creativity, cognitive development, social skills, fostering self-esteem, fostering health, safety and nutrition. The lesson plans articulate weekly themes and the rooms are arranged with self-directed Learning Centers. This environment allows children to pace themselves and choose what interests them according to their own stage of development. Our teachers work with small groups and individual children on developmental goals and objectives. Group time occurs at least twice a day for story time, songs, finger plays, show and tell, discussions about the weekly theme. Computer, dance, and tumbling classes, in-house drama and music presentations, and numerous field trips are offered for your child's enrichment.

  4. Team Communication - At Discover & Share we consider ourselves partners in the role of care giving for your child. We value and encourage parental input; we provide open visitation and participation any time.

  5. Our Quality Facilities - The facilities, equipment and materials at Discover & Share are safe, stimulating and generous. We offer four separate age appropriate playgrounds with an indoor play areas for rainy days.

  6. NAEYC Accredited - The National Association for the Education of Young Children is the nation's largest professional organization of early childhood educators which helps determine the guidelines for many learning centers in the United States. Discover & Share is accredited by NAEYC ( only 7 % of US programs meet this high standard).
