Easter Egg Lesson Plan/Activity For Your Class

This is a cool project and I think all elementary grades would like it.

Materials:

Tempera Paint

Styrofoam Plates

Plastic Wrap

White Paper (make sure it is sturdy)

Yarn

First pre cut enough paper in the shape of eggs for your class. You might want several for each student. They need to be about the size of an adult hand.

Next pre mix some cool colors of tempera paint. Mix white with purple, yellow, and red to create Easter colors.

When your students are ready, allow them to pour the colors they want to use onto their plate. They need to select at least two colors. You might also want to make different shades of lavender, pink etc.

Next cover the plate with plastic wrap and allow the student to mix the colors with their finger on the outside of the plastic. They will like this. Don't allow them to mix the colors completely. They want to just swirl it or move them around.

Then remove the plastic wrap. Allow the student to place their eggs in the paint one paper at a time until their paper is gone.

When they dry you can laminate them, punch a hole and hang them.

If the eggs are cut perfectly you can put one on one side and glue them together then laminate them. They are cool.

Some Fun Spring Crafts For Kids

Decorate your favorite photo with this springtime frame. Feel free to get creative, and encourage your kids to get creative as well. Once the activity is complete, find somewhere to hang it up, so that each child can be seen. This will provide them with a sense of accomplishment, as well as let them see each other's work. Spring Time Activites for Your Lesson Plan

1. Bean Bag Basket Toss-Students toss the bean bag into a giant Easter Basket.Materials needed: large basket, several bean bags, stickers for participation.
2. Egg Relay Race-Students run with a plastic egg in a spoon. Go Team Go!!Materials: two large plastic ladles. Plastic eggs filled with confetti.Divide students into two teams. Students carry plastic egg in ladle around a chair and back. then transfer ladle to team member at “home base”. Stickers for all!
3. Bunny Hop!-Materials: starting line and finishing line marked with chalk. StickersStudents hop, jump, waddle, to the finish line. every one is a winner!Divide students into equal teams. Determine where the starting and finishing line are.Caller (adult in charge) call out the actions the students will take. Eg. Hop like a Bunny, Waddlelike a duck.
4. Bunny Ears/ Bunny Basket-Students make a Bunny ears headband and make a Bunny Basket from lunch bags.Headbands- construction paper band with construction bunny ears. White ears with pink middles.Students cut out ears and staple to head band. Adult staples headband to fit.Pastel lunch bags - pre-cut a section out of the top to make ears. Bend back section together tomake handle. Students draw on bunny face and glue a cotton tail to the back.
5. Jumpin’ Jellybean-SortGraphing, sorting, eating.YUM! Materials - miniature jelly beans for sorting. One inch graph paper - crayons.Students sort jelly beans on graph paper- as they lift off candies students color the squareunderneath.

Preschool Craft for St. Patrick's Day-Easy Shamrock Paper Craft

Younger children will find this a very easy craft to make. The shape has big, bold lines with relatively few curves which should make it easier for preschoolers to cut out on their own.

Materials:
scissors
glue
printer (we used construction paper)
paper
one of: colored macaroni

or colored rice

or Fruit Loops

click links for directions on how to color them if you don't already know. Fruit loops are the best choice for very young or large groups of children as they are safe to nibble on.
OPTIONAL: something to color with, sparkle glue or glitter
OPTIONAL: popsicle stick

Directions:
Print out the template ofchoice.
Colour (where appropriate) and cut out the template pieces.
Decorate the shamrock with fruit loops, colored macaroni or colored rice.
Hang on the fridge!- or -Glue your shamrock to a Popsicle stick and make your Shamrock dance while you sing this song:

I'm a little Shamrock (sung to: I'm a little Teapot)
I'm a little shamrock

look at me

oh what color can I be

If you said that I was the color green

then stand right up and YELL

Childrens Craft- St. Patrick's Day Treasure Box

Lucky Treasure BoxKeep all your lucky charms safe in our St. Patrick's Day treasure box.

You Need:
Paper Mache Treasure Box with Decorating Supplies
Green Paint and Foam Brush
Glue Dots
Shamrock Rhinestones

Instructions:Paint treasure box green. Prop lid open as it dries. Glue on decorating supplies included with the kit. Finish off with Shamrock rhinestones.

Valentines Day Craft- Lesson Plan

Learning Colors -- Valentine's Day Chocolate Boxes Paper Crafts
-This is a simple cut and paste paper craft good for colors practice, or a Valentine's Day theme.





Materials:
something to colour with if using the B&W version,
scissors,
glue, and
paper.
Optional: Stamp Glue
Instructions:
Print out the template of choice.
Colour (where appropriate) and cut out the template pieces.
Glue the chocolates into the chocolate box.
Optional: Instead of gluing the colors onto the box, put Stamp Glue on the back of the color template pieces and let the children lick and stick the pieces on.

Daycare Activity and Lesson Plan

We're All the Same on the Inside
Grade Level(s): Preschool, 1-2, 3-5

This is a simple look at how we can look different on the outside, yet be the same on the inside. We use this activity around Martin Luther King day after a discussion about prejudice.

Materials:
one or more brown eggs
one or more white eggs
a bowl

Plan: Following a discussion with the children about how people are alike (we all have two eyes, we all have hair) and how we differ (blue eyes vs. brown eyes-long hair vs. short) show them a brown egg and a white egg.
Discuss the similarities and differences in the eggs. (They are oval, they are different colors.)
Break each egg into the bowl and dispose of shell. (Hint: this is best done above their eye level because if they see which yolk came from which egg, they will be able to make a distinction). Can they tell which is which?
No--because just like people,even though we may LOOK different on the outside, we're all the same on the inside!

An Introductory Activity: Lesson Plan

Nursery Rhyme Olympics

Students play games based on nursery rhymes and the Olympics.

Objectives:

To create games for young children to play based on the current unit and learn about the Olympic games at the same time.
Materials:

Small Cones for setting up a course
Burlap Bags
Two pails and two large water containers
Pie plates, metal or foil
Awards for each participant
Plan:

Our class did a two week unit on Nursery Rhymes.

To end our unit, we did Rub a Dub Dub. We live in a small town and therefore we went on a walking field trip to the Butcher (local grocer), the Baker (a townslady that does a lot of bake goods for sale), and the Candlestick Maker (local gift store with many candles).

We then continued on to the park where we had lunch and then we had the Mother Goose Olympics.

--We had the Jack Be Nimble relay where we lined up cones about four feet apart in two lines and then separate the children into two teams. They then had to jump over the cones (candlesticks) down and back and then the next student until the last one and they were the winners.

--The Baa Baa Black Sheep relay was great fun. We had burlap bags that we put the child in, they hopped down the course and back and switched with the next in line until all done.

--The Jack and Jill relay was great fun. They had to dip their pail in the LARGE bucket of water run to the other end (don't spill it) dump the pail into another waiting bucket run back and the next one in line did the same. At the end we saw which team had the most water in the large bucket and they were the winner. The trick was not to spill water or fall down and break your crown.

--For Little Jack Horner, we had the children hold a pie plate above their head, run down the course and back handing it off to the next student and when the last one finished, that team was the winner.

Our children had a great time and they all received Mother Goose Gold Medals at the end of the day.

Comments:

We had great fun and the children did too. We are a small staff (2 teachers each with an associate and 4 one on one aides) that at current has 28 students in a school based preschool program.
